Virginia Store: April 2009 Archives
Any flyshop employee who thinks they're above baiting hooks for an entire day needs to get back into the basics and help introduce youngsters into the world of fishing. Over 500 children came down to Fletcher's Boathouse to learn about the river and aquatic species, ecology, conservation, and included fly tying and fly casting. Children of all ages completed a fishing safety course and were treated to a bounty of fishing opportunities in the C&O canal a few steps away from the festivities. Youngsters from 2 thru teen caught denizens of the deep, and were taught sportsmanship by releasing their catch.
Many thanks to everyone that came to help give back and generate awareness.
