Albie-Tauk!!!

The false albacore fishing has been of the hook this year in Montauk.  Captains Brendan McCarthy and Bryan Goulart have been raving about the Albie fishing since early October.  Some of our Urban Angler customers decided to see if it was just talk.  As you can see there was no talk, just a whole lot of Albies with the occasional STRIPEAH!Thumbnail image for Thumbnail image for John-BryanA.jpg

Earlier this spring we had a friend of the shop visit for some local fishing.  John Way, guide and outfitter for Paws Up Outfitters, from Ovando, Montana.  John is accustomed to guiding people for native cutthroat and bull trout in the Bob Marshall Wilderness, but decided to try his luck for Striped Bass and Blue Fish with Captain Brendan McCarthy in Jamaica Bay.  He realized J Bay offers great surface action for Blues on poppers, with the occasional Bass mixed in.  As you can see from the photos, John doesn’t consider himself “Urban” but promises to come back and fish again.  Maybe we can drag him out of the woods after Elk hunting in Montana for some fall blitzes in Montauk!
